This one-day event will showcase impact success stories, offer you a chance to find a collaborator from another Scottish university, and give you the opportunity to access funds for impact collaborations.

The IAA Impact Festival is organised by the five Scottish universities with EPSRC Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAAs): University of Edinburgh, University of Strathclyde, University of Glasgow, Heriot-Watt University and University of St Andrews.

Speakers

Our keynote speaker is Roma Agrawal MBE, a structural engineer and author with a physics degree. She has designed bridges, skyscrapers (including The Shard) and sculptures with signature architects. Roma has given lectures to thousands at universities, schools and organisations; has presented numerous TV shows; and hosts her own podcast, Building Stories. Her first book, BUILT (2018) won an AAAS science book award and has been translated into eight languages. Roma is passionate about promoting engineering and technical careers to young people, particularly those from minoritized groups, and has won international awards for her technical prowess and for her advocacy for the profession, including the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering's Rooke Award. She was appointed an MBE in 2018 for services to engineering.

We'll also have lightning talks from impact leaders who received funding in our first cross-institutional funding round, so you can hear more about their projects and the value of cross-institutional impact collaborations.

Networking sessions

Skillfluence will facilitate structured networking that will allow you to meet other researchers from across Scotland and creatively explore opportunities to collaborate.

Exhibitors

In the exhibition space, you will meet funders and innovation hubs that can provide support for your impact activities.

Photography and filming

There will be an official photographer and videographer on the day to record the event and create promotional materials. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please speak to a member of staff upon arrival. We will provide you with a sticker to alert the photographer and videographers.
