Event description

Description

We would be delighted if you could join us at The Edge to learn more about IAAPS - the Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems.

This is a £70m research facility that is being built on the Bristol and Bath Science Park. We already have some big industrial partners involved including McLaren, Jaguar Land Rover and Ford and others are queueing up to work with us.

This is the biggest venture of its kind for our University and will have a big part to play in helping the world develop cleaner cars and light vehicles and so tackle the pressing problems of climate change and poor air quality.

It’s not just an engineering activity. IAAPS has been set up as a cross faculty institute. Opportunities are opening up right across the University. Whether its computer simulation, mathematical modelling, the chemistry of batteries or the psychology of driving, IAAPS can help develop solutions. The School of Management have already been heavily involved, helping IAAPS achieve its ambition of supporting SMEs and driving economic growth.

The IAAPS team will talk about the vision for the new institute, give an update on the project and build, and explain more about the exciting research that will be housed within IAAPS, as well as developments on the educational programmes that will be available.

Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided.

As capacity is limited within the Arts Theatre, tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Best wishes,

Professor Steve Egan & Professor Gary Hawley
