The IAASF Committee are happy to announce the IAASF Conference 2024 taking place in the North East of England for a second consecutive year on the 16th and 17th of October 2024.

Background Information

The International Arts and Antiquities Security Forum (IAASF) is an organisation dedicated to supporting and educating a global audience on protecting arts, antiquities and cultural heritage. This is achieved through social media, conferences, and exhibitions from its headquarters in the North East of England. The ultimate aim of the IAASF is to provide those involved in protecting and safeguarding cultural and heritage venues with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to play a proactive role in protecting the artefacts, operations, and people.

Following the positive feedback we received from IAASF 2023, we are delighted to return to the beautiful 17th-century Jacobean Hall within Redworth Hall Hotel, in the North East of England.

The venue is located within 26 acres of landscaped gardens providing a relaxing and appropriate setting for a conference on the protection of arts and cultural heritage (it is even rumoured to be haunted by two of its very own ghosts!).

For this year's event, we want to explore the development of resilience in the cultural sector and how it impacts infrastructure, transportation, training, operational protection, protesters and other activities. The more we can address resilience in the cultural heritage sectors the more robust our protective approach will be to ensure cultural assets are around for future generations.

Therefore, by developing resilience after experiencing these societal factors, we can continue to protect cultural venues for future generations through shared learning, networking and discovering the latest innovations in security.

Conference Objectives

Following the conference, delegates will have a better understanding of:

  • THE IMPORTANCE OF RESILIENCE!
  • Existing and emerging threats to the arts, cultural, and heritage sectors.
  • Security design concepts - 'Layered Security Approach - Security In Depth'.
  • Risk management resilience.
  • Effective operational practices in a cultural setting.
  • The benefits of protective training and education.
  • Logistical and transportation risk management considerations.
  • Physical and technical security products available to the sector.
  • The part that delegates can play in protecting their organisation's assets.

Organised by

The conferences are intended to combine educational sessions with practical guidance and increased awareness of the latest innovations that exist commercially to protect the sectors, and there are some excellent networking opportunities and abilities to learn from peers.

The educational sessions are designed to help the audience understand the threats that exist, best practices in the protection of assets, and understanding the proactive part that everybody can play in reducing the risks that exist.

Irrespective of your role within the arts and cultural heritage sectors (including, venue owners, curatorial team, operations, facility management teams, security organisations and even government agencies) will benefit from attending IAASF conferences. Ultimately, anybody who has either a personal or professional desire to protect our culture, art or heritage for future generations should attend.
