Event description
Expert speakers ensure that IAASF 2021 provides the latest advice needed to protect cultural and heritage venues from adversarial threats.

About this Event

Covid-19 has negatively impacted the arts and culture sectors causing operational disruption, financial losses and unfortunately the closure of some venues. The ability to maintain and protect collections and venues was made harder due to restrictions, the loss of revenue and having to operate with reduced staff and limited opening times. All of which has the potential to increase the likelihood of collections, venues and sites being targeted by criminals and other adversarial threats.

For these reasons, the IAASF (International Arts and Antiquities Security Forum) is hosting a two-day event to share the latest information about the security and safety threats that exist, the risks they pose, and sensible steps that can be taken to proactively manage and reduce them.

Experts speakers from across the arts, cultural, and heritage sectors are sharing with delegates advice and guidance that will enable a greater understanding of the dangers whilst also enabling proactive protection measures to be established or introduced.

Anybody who has responsibilities for the protection, custody and management of arts and antiquities, will benefit from the conference and sessions delivered by renowned specialists, from exposure to some of the latest security innovations (physical, technical and operational), and through networking opportunities with friends and colleagues from across the sectors.

Due to the devastating impact that COVID has unleashed upon the arts, cultural and heritage sectors, and as a part of the IAASF social responsibility programme delegates directly employed or engaged within the sectors will be entitled to complimentary tickets for the conference.

Presently there are limited tickets available to coincide and ensure the safety and security of all delegates. Should the situation ease and a relaxing of safety measures be possible, additional places will be made available.

Those organisations who support the sectors (architects, security companies, etc.) are asked to make a contribution to fund the event and purchase a reduced price ticket contained within this notice. (Leaving this to the integrity and honesty of individuals.)

The IAASF team reserve the right to request proof of direct sector engagement to ensure that those organisations and delegates who have a greater need, and who will benefit most, are not disadvantaged.

Objectives of the Conference

At the conclusion of the conference the delegates will have a better understanding of:

1. The threats that exist across the sectors.

2. Concepts of security design principles, 'Security in Depth'.

3. Effective security operations within the cultural sector.

4. The benefits of training and education within the sectors.

5. Risk management across the sectors.

6. Safe movements and handling of arts and antiquities.

7. The latest physical, operational and technical security measures that are available to protect assets.
