Description

Iaia Forte and Branka Katić give a stage reading from Everybody’s Right (Hanno tutti ragione) by Paolo Sorrentino

Introduced by Monica Capuani

Award-winning Italian actress Iaia Forte is again working with Paolo Sorrentino, after the global success of Academy Award winning film The Great Beauty. In the play Everybody’s Right, adapted by Sorrentino’s book, she plays Neapolitan singer Tony Pagoda, when, at the height of his career, in New York in the 1950s, he is about to perform at Radio City Music Hall in the presence of Frank Sinatra.

This is the story of Tony Pagoda, a hero of our time, a man of incredible energies and appetites with a dark secret in his past and a unique perspective on the world.
A huge best-seller in Italy, Everybody’s Right is an extraordinary debut novel from The Great Beauty director Paolo Sorrentino. Through Tony’s irresistible voice Sorrentino illustrates his imaginative power and his incredible gifts for drama and satire.

Iaia Forte will read from the original Italian version of the book and will perform in the monologue that has enchanted audiences in Italy and abroad as well as critics.

Actress Branka Katić will read from the English version of the book, published in the UK by Harvill Secker.

Iaia Forte is one of the most celebrated actresses in Italy today, both for her work on stage and on screen. She has worked with leading stage directors including Mario Martone, Carlo Cecchi, Emma Dante, Luca Ronconi and Toni Servillo, and with film directors such as Pappi Corsicato, Maurizio Nichetti, Valeria Golino, Peter Greenaway, as well as of course Paolo Sorrentino. She has won several awards including two Nastro d’Argento, a David di Donatello, a Globo d’Oro, a Ciak d’Oro, a Linea d’Ombra and a Sacher Award for Best Actress.

Branka Katić is a Serbian actress known for her roles in the films Black Cat, White Cat and Public Enemies and in the TV series Big Love. She debuted in films when she was 14 years old. Branka was a student of the Academy of Dramatic Art in Belgrade. She has also worked on various TV series.

Monica Capuani is a freelance cultural journalist for important Italian magazines such as L’Espresso, L’Europeo, io Donna, Elle. She is also a literary translator from English and French, having translated more than seventy novels, and of English and American Drama, bringing several plays to the Italian stage, most recently The Pride by Alexi Kaye Campbell, directed and interpreted by Luca Zingaretti.
