Ian Jelf's (Virtual) "London: Secrets of the City" tour
Event Information
About this Event
Although we think of London as a sprawling metropolis, one of the great cities of the world, the actual" City of London" is a tiny area, only a little over one square mile in size , that is today home to more US banks that New York City and more Russian Banks than Moscow.
And those are just a few of the surprises on this virtual stroll through a city which has been home to Romans, Saxons, Vikings, Normans, Huguenots and indeed people from all over the world.
Despite the ravages of the Great Fire of London and the Blitz the city's ancient street pattern survives, with tiny alleyways which are home to all sorts of fascinating stories.
Ian promises to find you a grasshopper, a telephone, a future Prime Minister and even "High Street Londinium".
Intrigued? Then come along!
