Description

For the opening seminar in the 'Sense and Sensation' series at the Institute of Advanced Studies, organisers Dhanveer Singh Brar and Alicia Spencer-Hall will lead an introductory discussion amongst all speakers and attendees, briefly present their work on the IAS 'Sense and Sensation' research strand, and open up conversations as to what the terms 'sense' and 'sensation' mean in specific disciplines, in academia and in life beyond the academy.

We ask attendees to come to seminar prepared to think through and discuss with us some of the following questions:

  • How do questions of 'sense and sensation' operate in your research and/or practice?
  • Within your discipline(s), how are 'sense and sensation' understood?
  • What impact do you believe an examination of 'sense and sensation' can have within and beyond your discipline(s) and/or practice?

We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday 17 November, 4-6pm.
