Description

IASS and LA SEND Managers Strategic Workshop

Purpose

This government funded regional workshop is a closed event aimed only at the Information Advice and Support Manager and Local Authority SEND Manager. The workshop will present a valuable opportunity to meet and hear the latest national position on SEND from the Department for Education and contribute towards early conversations with government officials on the SEND Code of Practice, since first being introduced in 2014.

For IASS Managers, attendance at a workshop will contribute towards their commitment towards service improvements in line with the Minimum Standards and the IAS programme, a government funded programme led by the Council for Disabled Children. For Local Authority SEND Managers, attendance will be an opportunity to hear the national position on SEND, discuss commonalities with IAS Service Managers and consider solutions to local challenges faced in delivering SEND services in a safe and supportive environment.

The proposed agenda and working titles for sessions on the day are as follows:

  • Session 1: National Government Position with SEND and Q&A - DfE SEND Advisor

  • Session 2: Securing successful Joint Commissioning of IASS - Daisy Russell Policy and Practice Manager, CDC

  • Session 3: Consultation on the Code of Practice – DFE Senior Official

  • Session 4: End of year 2 exit planning for IASS in light of IASP funding coming to an end in March 2020 (or a session on year 3 funding opportunities for IASS if further funding is awarded to IASP) - Martin Bull, Programme Manager, CDC
