Icon Scotland presents the 23rd Annual Plenderleith Memorial Lecture

About this Event

2020 - A great disruption or 'plus ça change'?

Icon Scotland is delighted to welcome Euan Leitch as the speaker for its 23rd annual Plenderleith Memorial Lecture. Euan is the Director of the Built Environment Forum Scotland, an umbrella organisation with policy interests across archaeology, buildings and landscapes. He has a background in architectural history and urban planning. Euan has worked for public bodies, local authorities and charities and his work has moved from physical conservation to conservation policy. Through BEFS he engages with Members of the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Government to try and influence policy and legislation that improves the condition of Scotland’s historic environment for the benefit of people. In 2020 BEFS created the COVID Historic Environment Resilience Forum in an attempt to understand the short and long term impacts of this unfolding event. What is it finding?

This year everything is different and the first online Plenderleith lecture is followed by a live panel discussion. Euan will be joined by leading figures from the built heritage and museum sector including Lucy Casot, CEO of Museums & Galleries Scotland, Sara Crofts, CEO of Icon and Dr William Napier from SPAB Scotland.

*Breaking news: We are delighted that Mark Watson, Convener of The Institute of Historic Building Conservation' is able to join our panelists for a stimulating heritage sector debate.
