The latest in our Icons series of fine wine tastings, tonight we are pitting two of France's titans against each other, Bordeaux and Burgundy. There are moments for modesty, and there are moments for true indulgence, and when it comes to the latter, few can compete with the iconic wines of these two regions, the twin poles of fine wine.
Burgundy, with its golden slope, offers at once boldness and delicateness, elegance and decadence with rich, lucurious whites and ethereal, perfumed reds. The hedonism of Burgundy finds its counterpart in the firm, cedar scented wines of Bordeaux whose fine structure is made for long, slow ageing. Surely every wine lover hears the siren song of these grand old chateaux of Bordeaux, where each vintage reveals its very own story to those of us patient enough to let time work its magic.
This evening is all about wines that show just why these regions continue to command the devotion of winelovers the world over. Grand crus, the best producers, rare and mature bottles, we will be pulling all the stops out to put together an exceptional line up tonight for a fine wine tasting not to be missed.
Places strictly limited to 14 people.
Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
