Speakers: Steve Cromar, Consultant and Chair of SPE Continuing Education; George Galloway, IWCF
This Lunch and Learn will explore guidelines introduced post-Macondo, making training and competency changes that impact on well operations personnel.
Presented by Steve Cromar, Consultant and Chair of SPE Continuing Education, and George Galloway of the International Well Control Forum (IWCF), this lunch and learn will give an overview of the progression of work through OSPRAG to the latest O&G guidelines. It will explore the IOGP recommendations, through to detailing the present 5 levels of well control training and the ISO competency guidelines. Specifically, IWCF will discuss IOGP 476, which was the main report issued in October 2012 providing recommendations on well control training and certification, and the IOGP reports 501 and 502 which cover human factors in well operations.
Post-Macondo industry guidelines were issued with the aim of preventing a similar incident from happening again. Further to providing an overview of the guidelines, this lunch and learn will explore how the recommendations are being implemented by the industry.
