Event description
Student Hubs' workshop on how students can generate ideas for projects and successfully campaign at their institutions and organisations

About this event

Student Hubs is a charity that works with 1800+ students across five UK universities to get students involved in practical volunteering, skilled placements and in-curriculum projects in their community, and supports students to generate their own ideas for community projects. A core part of our Theory of Change is our dual impact model, which puts communities at the core of benefitting from our work alongside our student volunteers.

Tickets are limited to 30 for this workshop to enable the most interactivity, discussion and engagement with other attendees - please only sign up if you are able to attend the full session.

About the session:

In this 90 minute interactive and activity based session, our trainer will be providing advice and guidance on how students can develop and generate new ideas/projects/social action activities, and also about effective campaigning.

This includes:

  • Understanding what goes into generating new ideas, research, support you can access and what you should consider
  • How to create effective campaigns, how to gain support, communicating your message and being thoughtful about scope, intersectionality and confidence
  • Creating an action plan on how to develop and generate your ideas and/or campaigns

Workshops through Student Hubs enable you to network with other peers and students, learn best practice, discuss and share challenges with others, and take part in guided activities or reflection which will support your work.

Please note: Student Hubs has a safe space policy which we will be upholding throughout this session, and conduct which goes against this policy will not be tolerated. We aim to create a safe, supportive space for students, so we ask all attendees to be respectful and aware of this before signing up to the session.

Who is this session aimed at?

This session is aimed at any UK student, primarily focused at university students, however students in college may also find this session useful.

The session provides a broad overview to networking and collaborating with local organisations, so as a graduate or professional you might also find this helpful for a refresher or some inspiration to try new frameworks for engaging with community partners or organisations.

This session is open to all university students, even if you are not one of our Hub universities.

I found this training session useful - how can I ask my university/student union/organisation to bring in other training in from Student Hubs?

All of Student Hubs' webinar and workshop delivery can be bought in as training for your organisation, and we have a range of sessions which can be delivered for students, staff, or early career staff. One-off sessions start from £300 and our packages of 4 training sessions (which can be delivered for staff, students, third sector organisations or early career staff) can be bought in from £1000 - see more information at our training brochure.

This blog about our webinars and workshops includes a section at the end about training which you can share, you can share our training brochure, and you can also pass on the contact details below.
