Workshop Overview
In 2013, the Design Council worked with the Arts & Humanities Research Council to measure the value that design brings to small businesses. What they found is that design does so much more than just make products look nicer or work better - it improves the way a business operates. Their research found that not only can design thinking increase the range of products a business develops, but it can also lead to more inspiring workplaces, happier staff, better service and, as a result, greater customer satisfaction. This approach has become known as ‘Design-Led Innovation’ and is emerging as a fundamental business process, increasingly being adopted by both large and medium sized firms. But it’s real power lies in its’ ability to help transform small businesses.
In our workshop, you'll be getting hands-on, working on real life challenges to aid your learning. There will also be plenty of time for you to ask questions. Our goal is to make sure that you leave with everything you need to be able to go back and start transforming your business straight away.
10am – 1pm
Module 1: Design Led Innovation – The Basics
In this module we will explore what design-led innovation is, what the core values of design led innovation are, and introduce you to the principles of design thinking for business.
1pm – 2pm
A light lunch will be provided for those participants registered for both modules on the day.
2pm – 5pm
Module 2: Design Led Innovation – Applying to your business
In module 2, you will learn how to generate ideas using design thinking and then explore how to embed a design-led culture of innovation in your own business.

A light lunch will be provided for those participants registered for both modules on the day. Module 2 can only be attended if Module 1 has been completed. Participants are welcome to attend any or all workshop as preferred
Places restricted to 15. Applicants must confirm attendance. Failure to attend any workshop that you have registered for will result in your removal from subsequent workshops. As numbers are restricted to 15, please only register if you fully intend to attend. Thank you!
