Want to find out & discuss how to use technology to make Kent a better place...over a free drink and nibbles and the opportunity to meet like-minded people?

Are you passionate about using digital to help others and improve your community...and want to work with others to put this into practice here in Kent?

Wanna help crack challenges that public services face on how to use digital?

We've got the skills on our doorstep and we'd love to see how we can work together!

As the use of digital technology becomes increasingly important to deliver public services, there is a massive opportunity for the local digital community to shape the debate and for councils to better understand the opportunities and skills they have on their doorstep.

As councils and public agencies look to different ways to commission services, we want to create a space where public servants and the community come together to tackle common challenges & opportunities in designing & developing the best services using technology. We want to do this by helping:

  • Digital agencies & professionals to better understand & influence the commissioning of technology & digital services within the public sector

  • Public service staff to better understand, shape and support  the digital market in the county

  • People working in “digital” across all sectors in Kent to connect with like-minded people on common issues & opportunities

  • Students/researchers & professors to learn from local case studies and meet industry professionals

  • Lecturers & course directors to shape the content of their forum and their own courses

We’ve organised Transformed by You, a programme that brings together public servants, students & local people to come up ways that technology can help meet local needs, for the last four years. We’ve used different formats, working with local residents in Medway and West Kent, art groups in Thanet, designers in East Kent, students from colleges & universities across Kent and citizens online. Take a look at what’s been developed.

We want to start doing this by taking part in meetups organised by local digital / entrepreneur groups in the county. We’re hosting this meetup ourselves, building on meetups organised elsewhere between public services and the community, like TeaCamp and BrewCamp, not just because they combine three of things we love, tea, cake and learning.

Although the meetup is aimed at the above audiences, we want it to be open to everyone who wants to contribute to using technology to help make Kent a better place. We want people to also be able to shape the future development of the Forum and explore different ways & formats we can use to continue this conversation.

The meetup will start off by an introduction on what our key challenges are as public services in how we use technology to deliver our services and support the community. We’ll also introduce Transformed by You.

Every programme has been designed in a different way, so we want to know how we should run it this time round…and how you’d like to be involved.

But, most importantly, there’ll be informal conversation over a free drink and nibbles because we’d love to know what are the key challenges & opportunities in the local digital sector and how we can engage with you and work together to make Kent a better place using technology.
