During this one-hour live webinar Siobhan Maclean will use the what? why? how? framework to explore what theory means in social work practice, why students struggle with the application of theory, and how practice educators can help students with the development of theory informed practice.
Siobhan has written widely about theory and practice and will share a range of practical tips to support practice educators to develop more creative supervision, moving beyond the rabbit in the headlight question: ‘what theory have you used there?’ The session will support practice educators to develop their confidence in addressing the ‘theory fear factor’.
Siobhan Maclean has been a social worker for 35 years and became a practice educator in 1995. She has worked independently for a number of years. Her work includes training, devising practice learning resources and consultancy work. Siobhan has written widely about social work theory and critical reflection.
