Who is this for?

If you are a LU doctoral candidate or a postdoctoral researcher focusing on your research to make an impact to the wider world, this is for you!

When & where?

2 days in-person bootcamp on the 20th and 21st June 2023 at Loughborough campus – Start-up labs, STEM Building.

And

A hybrid pitch day on the 27th June 2023 – venue to be confirmed.

What to expect?

• Explore your entrepreneurial potential, motivation, how your research can impact the wider world to solve real life problems.

• Networking with likeminded researchers with similar interest and motivations.

• Gain a basic understanding of Intellectual property and its importance in business.

• Gain knowledge on how to commercialise your research – Value proposition canvas, Business model canvas, securing grants, pathway to commercialisation through the university support.

• Gian knowledge on how to pitch your research effectively to the outer world.

We encourage early career researchers from multi-disciplinary backgrounds to collaborate and generate impactful innovative ideas to solve real world problems.

By the end of this bootcamp, you will be equipped with tools and knowledge to promote your research in the right direction to make better lives for your target market.

Within the 2day bootcamp, you will have chance to gain knowledge, work in groups and work on your research ideas to pinpoint how you can contribute to the society, environment, and economy to make a valuable impact. You will have chance to meet university spin-out founders who walked through the same path as you and became business people and get all your questions answered by them.

3rd day, you will have a chance to pitch your research to an expert panel to gain feedback to improve yourself for the future.

Programme will be hosted by Mickey Clarke (serial entrepreneur, ICURe champion and expert trainer in entrepreneurship) and the LU IP management and commercialisation team.
