Lochaber Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce Douglas Watson from the Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society as part of Ideas Week 2016!
Chairing a Free Event food workshop and delivering interactive food and drink lectures as part of Ideas Week, Douglas has a wealth of experience in the food and drink sector having worked across a variety of academic, sector and industry development roles. These unique skills equip him to work very successfully with producer groups and food and drink businesses to understand and develop strategies to overcome challenging business situations. Douglas has worked extensively in the Scottish local food sector with farmers’ markets, farm shops, wholesalers and distributors. This work has included Scotland–wide reviews of the local food sector for the Scottish Government and farm retail for the Enterprise Network. He has been adviser and Company Secretary of the Scottish Shellfish Marketing Group Ltd for eighteen years. More recently he was seconded for three years as the National Development Officer for Farmers Markets followed by three years as Development Manager for the Think Local programme. Douglas is currently a Development Manager with the Scottish Government’s flagship local food and drink marketing advisory service Connect Local.
