Identity - What box do you tick? Does it matter?
Sat 25 March 2017, 10:00 – 13:00 GMT
What is your identity? How do you identify? In fact does that even matter?
This series of workshops was stimulated by a piece of research that found that young people had no sense of their identity or what defined them. The question was then posed; if young people have no sense of who they are then are they more susceptible to anxiety about self and fear of groups perceived as different?
Are there any groups in society that have strong identities? Which have weak? And what are the implications of this? Must people understand themselves and who they are in order to interact positively with other groups?
The facilitators will bring a range of stimuli and activities to structure the discussions and conversations.
These workshops will be particularly useful for practitioners who are working with young people but would also appeal to parents and practitioners working in the wider community.
The sessions will run from 10am to 1pm and refreshments will be provided. The Multi-Faith Centre is a fully accessible building with ample parking available in Car Park 1
