Event description

Description

What is it about?

This is a must attend course for those responsible for managing, testing or hiring electrical equipment in the workplace.

An updated version of the long established bible for PAT testing, 'the IET Code of Practice on In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment', is due to be published in Spring 2020. The new 5th Edition is a significant departure from previous editions and places a new focus on the methods, requirements and tests for equipment in the work place and for hire.

Why should I attend?

You’ll gain a solid understanding of the fundamental requirements of PAT testing and how to put them into practice in your own workplace within the events/entertainment industry.

What does the course cover?

  • The new Code of Practice was written for the IET by James Eade so delegates on this course will hear first hand about the rationale for the changes and how they impact all those working in events and allied industries.

  • Changes include revised requirements for management of electrical equipment generally (not just portable appliances), a move away from manufacturer type-tests, simpler testing requirements including inspection only for certain classes.

  • The introduction of new safety classifications, competency requirements, the removal of suggested intervals for testing and revised reporting information to example a few areas.

How much does it cost?

The cost for PLASA members is heavily subsidised at £289+VAT. This includes all refreshments and lunch, handouts and worksheets. For non-members we offer a competitive rate of £349+VAT.

There is a maximum of 14 places available allowing for a personal approach – book today to avoid missing out!

Who is our trainer?

James Eade is a Chartered Engineering consultant who has worked in the industry for over 25 years across the spectrum including concert touring, theatre, corporate events and broadcast. He represents the industry on various British Standards committees including the IET Wiring Regulations and has authored IET guidance on the temporary electrical systems. He provides electrical safety management, design and training services, see www.eade.uk.com
