Organized by

Welcome to Southwest London’s hottest new poetry night - If Poets Ruled the World! This is an open mic night, taking place on the second Thursday of every month at Walnut Tree Café in Sands End Arts & Community Centre.

Founded and hosted by Ruth Elora (also known as the Mayfair Poet) and Salma the Poet. Ruth and Salma met in early 2025 and bonded over the lack of poetry events in their local area. They noticed they cared about the same things - both feeling passionately about community, inclusivity, and encouraging others to share their voice. Fast forward a few months later and If Poets Ruled the World was born!

We can’t wait to see you at one of our events! Due to the nature of the event, topics of a difficult nature might come up. Please see suggested resources in the FAQs. If you have any questions which aren’t covered by the FAQs, please contact us on ifpoetsruledtheworld@gmail.com.
