"If the paintings could talk" (Michael Wilson)

A fun and inspiring workshop on ekphrastic* writing to celebrate the 200th anniversary of London's National Gallery.

We'll meet at the Gallery, look at some selected art works together, look at some inspiring examples of ekphrastic writing, and then see what the paintings might say to us if they were able to talk to us individually - working with some prompts from Michael Wilson's fascinating book: https://shop.nationalgallery.org.uk/if-the-paintings-could-talk-pb-1018524.html

* Ekphrastic poetry has come to be defined as poems written about works of art; however, in ancient. Greece, the term ekphrasis was applied to the skill of describing a thing with vivid detail.
