IFS, Sexuality & Gender - key concepts

In this workshop, Alessio and Anna-Thomas present the essential concepts of sex, gender, and sexuality from an Internal Family Systems perspective. 

You will learn:

• How to apply non-normative points of view of sex and gender with your clients. For example, using pronouns correctly, and understanding what misgendering is and its impact on LGBTQIA+ systems.
• How to open up a safe space for a more expansive view of LGBTQIA+ identities in your therapy room
• To identify the biases that your parts might hold around LGBTQIA+ identities, and to begin moving beyond binary ways of thinking.
• How to explore your system with regards to gender and sexuality

Alongside this, you will engage in a bite-sized experiential exercise designed to give you a felt sense of how you might show up with clients. The goal is to cultivate awareness, humility, and confidence in creating a therapy room where all parts and all identities can feel seen, safe, and respected.

Who is this workshop for?

We have designed this workshop for all IFS professionals with an interest in learning more about sexuality and gender from an IFS perspective. Whether you have worked with LGBTQIA+ clients or not, this can be your first step to making your IFS practice truly LGBTQIA-affirming.

You do not need to have any prior knowledge about LGBTQIA+ and you are welcome to bring your questions and doubts to this space. At the same time, if you have been working with LGBTQIA+ people and you would like a better understanding to elevate your practice, please come along.

Recordings

Zoom recordings will be made available for free to ticket holders.

We will record the session and we will make the recordings available (for free to all ticket holders) on a dedicated learning platform from which you will be able to stream the videos and download the slides and other material created for the workshop.

Entry Criteria

Participants need to have a good understanding of IFS and need to be professionals who are working or are planning to work with LGBTQIA+ people. We ask that people have completed a Level 1 IFS, or an equivalent training like Stepping Stones, etc.

You can get a refund through Eventbrite up to 48 hours before the session. Please notice that the Eventbrite administrative costs will not be refunded and that you will not be able to access the recordings afterwards for free.
