Event description

Description

Luton Revert Group are once again hosting an iftar event for new Muslims and their families and friends.

In sha Allah we will have inspirational guest speaker, Martin Askew.

Hearts Return: Leaving the Gangster’s Life – Challenges and Blessings

Martin was heir to The Krays & Lenny Maclean (The Guvnor) but left East London’s criminal underworld after connecting with The Quran and The Prophet (saw) over a 10-year period.

He will talk about the ‘Law of the Street’, difficulties in leaving a life of crime and the lessons he’s learned in gaining peace, as well as finding success in the art.

FAQs

Do I need a ticket for children?

Only if the child requires an iftar.

Why a charge for tickets this year?

Luton Revert Group is a totally self-funded voluntary organisation run by new Muslims. We do not receive any funding. The cost of the event is approximately £10 per head for the food, the venue and the speaker costs, we cannot cover the costs entirely.

Who qualifies for a Concessionary Refund?

£5 ticket price can be refunded on request for those who the ticket price would be a barrier to attending. We would ideally make the event free for all but we have had no shows and wastage at prior events and these events are expensive to put on. We are a totally self funded voluntary organisation run by new Muslims, we hope you understand. A £5 refund is available on the night in cash.

What will be the iftar meal?

We have sourced a quality freshly made iftar from local sisters. The 3 course meal consists of Dates & Fruit, Lasagne and Tiramisu for dessert as well as Moroccan tea and other drinks.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is plenty of parking at and around the venue. If anyone has difficulties with getting to the venue to attend the event please contact us.

What can I bring into the event?

If possible bring your own plate, cutlery and cup to reduce wastage on the night. In sha Allah we aim for a Green Ifar!

Will the Salah prayer be observed?

Yes we will pray Mahgrib together after breaking fast with dates and water. Then iftar will be served.

Teraweh prayer can be performed at Hockwell Ring Masjid (across the road 2 mins away) at 10:45pm.
