Description

Sustainability

Sustainability is not just about ensuring that you have enough money to keep your organisation going.

Although having sufficient funding to keep providing services is obviously important; other, equally important factors need to be taken into consideration to ensure your organisation’s long term viability and; ultimately its survival, particularly through difficult economic times.

Some of the main factors that need to be taken into consideration are:

  • Is our organisation structured and governed in the most appropriate way to take us forward?
  • Is our “offer” in terms of our services, meeting not only the current needs of our service users, but capable of responding to changing needs in the future?
  • Are we managing our financial resources effectively and efficiently enough at present and, if not, what measures will we have to take in order to remain financially viable long term?

Who should attend?

This workshop is aimed at Board/Committee Members as well as Managers and Staff of third sector organisations who have responsibility for areas such as programme development and finance.

Learning Outcomes

A knowledge and understanding of the principles of sustainability will allow delegates to return to their organisations and help it work towards:

  • Building a long term future rather than just trying to survive in an increasingly complex environment
  • Sustaining performance in the face of internal and external challenges
  • Becoming more innovative and adaptive

Free for all Integrated Grant Funded Organisations

Securing funding is a big deal, but the work doesn’t end there - in fact, for most organisations it’s just the beginning. GCVS is working in partnership with Glasgow City Council, Jobs and Business Glasgow, Volunteer Glasgow and CEiS to support IGF-funded organisations to make sure you have access to everything you need in order to be as successful as you can be.

GCVS is therefore delighted to offer a range of free training workshops designed to support you and your organisation.

(NB: If you are a non IGF funded project, there may be an opportunity for you to attend this training subject to availability. If this applies to your organisation, please telephone or email Phil Broadley 0141 332 2444 / phil.broadley@gcvs.org.uk ).

Trainer – Steve Brown (Collaborate Consulting)

These workshops have been developed, planned and will be delivered in partnership with the city-wide Glasgow Capacity Building Group which includes Glasgow City Council, Volunteer Glasgow, CEIS, Jobs and Business Glasgow and Glasgow Life.

If you prefer to book a place over the phone, please contact Phil on 0141 332 2444
