Liverpool 2050: how can we build a resilient city – one that is thriving, fair and sustainable?
About this event
On the 2nd of July, Ignite Liverpool will be taking place at Liverpool Central Library as part of Liverpool Makefest.
To discuss the topic ‘Liverpool 2050: how can we build a resilient city – one that is thriving, fair and sustainable?‘
The event takes place throughout the day, exact timings of each section will be announced later.
Transport
Transport is the second-largest contributor to carbon emissions in Liverpool. So what does travel look like in 2050? Is it hydrogen and electric, or pedal and public powered?
Food
We’ve experienced a number of shocks over recent years that show we don’t have food security in the UK – does resilience lie with our food co-ops, growers, allotmenteers, faith groups, foodbanks and zero-waste communities?
Energy
Similarly, we know the UK does not have energy security, or a particularly comprehensive plan to decarbonise and future-proof the system – so how are big public projects, local energy communities and individuals combining efforts here?
Homes and communities
Our homes are the places we’re supposed to feel safe – but many are trapped with high rent, high bills and more – where are the communities in the city bold enough to reimagine the place we call home?
We’re really keen to have Liverpool-specific talks – what has worked, what hasn’t and what are some potential solutions for the future?
If you are interested in taking part as a speaker then please get in touch here.
As a member of the audience you will have the opportunity to questions presenters at the end of each section.
