IGNITE! - Enterprise Day - Sewell Park Academy - 20th July 2017
IGNITE! Enterprise Days are an amazing opportunity to get involved with young people. These business challenges are run over a whole day, giving the young people a chance to be creative and solve a business challenge.
What is involved in an Enterprise Day?
The young people work in groups of 4-6 through a series of stages working towards an opportunity to win prizes at the end of the day. Each stage challenges the students to use different skills as they grow as a team through the day.
TEAM FORMATION - At the start of the day teams are formed, roles are decided, and they start to brainstorm ideas. The creativity begins.
DESIGN - Now they need to create their concept, think about their target market, and meeting the needs of the customer. They also need to consider the environment and jobs.
FINANCE & MARKETING - Now they have their concept, they need to think about how they are going to market it, and also think about the finances or running their business.
PITCH - Now the teams need to pull everything together ready to PITCH to the judges. A chance to get over all the work they have done during the day.
HEATS - A great opportunity for the teams to present their ideas in front of the 'dragons'.
PRESENTATIONS - A great chance to celebrate the day, and present prizes to the winners.
How can I get involved in the day?
IGNITE! Enterprise Days have been designed to make it easy for local employers to get involved and be part of the day. You don't need to have had any previous experience of working with young people, and you committment can be as little as one hour, up to the whole day. We just want you involved.
Your role falls into two parts during the day. In the morning sessions you act as a mentor to the teams, encouraging their thought process and creativity, and maybe supporting them understand the wider world of business to help them develop their plans. Towards the end of the day you then form part of the 'dragons den' and help us identify the winning teams.
It doesn't matter what line of business you are from, as you will always bring some knowledge to the day which will be useful to the teams.
