Event description
The annual IH Toruń Teacher Training Day conference returns. This year it will be a face-to-face event.

About this event

IH Toruń Teacher Training Day 2021 image

Save the date for one of the most exciting ELT events in the calendar. Last year our event was postponed by Covid-19 and was eventually an online event. But this year we are hoping to return to our normal face-to-face format (at least as a smaller boutique style event). Confirmed speakers so far include ELT legend Jeremy Harmer, trainer and educational consultant Ania Kolbuszewska and ELT presenter Rob Howard. There will also be online workshops with National Geographic Learning author Katharine Stannett and renowned Cambridge examiner Vincent Smidowicz.

The event is free for IH teachers. There is a small fee of 100PLN for non-IH teachers.

There is also a free option to watch a limited selection of workshops remotely online. Please note that if you choose this option you will not receive a certificate of attendance.

FAQs

Do you need to be a teacher at an IH school in Poland?

No, the event is open to ALL English language teachers from any school within the EU (entry is only allowed by presenting your EU Covid passport or NHS Covid pass). It's free for IH staff and there's a small fee of 100PLN for non-IH staff.

How do I attend the IH Toruń Teacher Training Day?

The event will take place in person in Toruń, Poland. A limited number of workshops will be streamed live online for those who cannot attend in person.

Should I expect any restrictions due to Covid-19?

We aim that the event will take place live. Entry to the event will only be allowed by showing your EU Covid passport (or NHS Covid pass). We will follow the government's advice regarding sanitary requirements. Hand dispensers will be available. It will also be necessary to wear a face mask whilst walking around the corridors of IH as well as during the breaks. You will be allowed to remove your mask (if you want to) whilst seated during the workshops.

What are the restrictions for entering Poland?

Currently, you are permitted to enter Poland if you have had a negative Covid test within 48 hrs of travel (a PCR test or Lateral Flow test are both accepted) or if you have had a European vaccination. You are responsible for checking the travel restrictions from your country. If you are unable to travel and cancel your ticket please read our cancellation policy. PLEASE NOTE YOU REQUIRE TO SHOW YOUR EU COVID PASSPORT (OR NHS COVID PASS) FOR ENTRY TO THE EVENT.

What will the programme be like?

The programme will be full of interactive and educational workshops as well as a plenary. The full programme is available to download here.

There will also be a social event in the evening. So it's best to stay overnight. We can recommend you some hotels. Please let us know.

Will I receive a certificate of attendance?

Yes, all participants* will receive a certificate of attendance. This will be given at the end of the plenary session.

*participants who will be viewing some of the sessions remotely online will not receive a certificate of attendance.

Where can I park my car?

The event is divided into two separate locations. The first half will take place at IH Toruń, whilst the 2nd half takes place at a local High School. Parking may be possible in the street in Młodzieżowa or paid parking is possible in the car park behind Cinema City, which is 5 mins away from IH Toruń.

I'd like to do some sightseeing in Toruń, will this be possible?

The Old Town of Toruń is really beautiful and is well worth a visit. We recommend taking the free walking tour on Sunday 7th November (the day after the conference). It leaves from the statue of Copernicus at 11:00. You need to book your place here: https://freewalkingtour.com/tours/old-town-torun/

What happens if I can no longer attend the face to face event?

The cancellation policy is:

  • notification received by 20th October 2021 - full refund of paid fee
  • notification received by 27th October 2021 - 50% refund of paid fee
  • notification received after 27th October 2021 - no refund
