About this event

A half-day masterclass on IHT and estate planning - designed and led by practising financial planners.

This masterclass will explore the needs, aims and hidden agendas of a multi-generational family tree with complex scenarios and objectives to work through.

Attendants will participate in roundtable discussions on the planning opportunities, technical knowledge and soft skills required to consider and competently advise the different generations.

Working with recognised solution experts from Technical Connection, we've designed a totally new IHT & Estate Planning Masterclass aimed at reskilling and upskilling financial planners.

The event will be hosted and led by the financial planners, with technical experts guiding attendees through workbooks containing case studies, client discovery checklists, key questions to ask, decision trees, and intergenerational considerations.

We’ve designed this masterclass as we believe there’s no better educational environment than learning from experts in-person.

It gives you the opportunity to get answers to client/case specific questions, share collective insights and experience with your peers, and use that knowledge and understanding to improve the lives of your clients and future generations. Not a product pitch in sight.

We think that is worth travelling for!

So if you are an experienced financial planner that sees value in peer-learning and professional development, and you feel you could add to the discussions then we would love to have you along. There is also 3 hours of structured CPD available.

What soft skills will you work on:

  • Communication - The ability to articulate a vision and motivate different family members to move towards it is the No.1 skill in intergenerational planning.
  • Collaboration - Considering the needs and compromises of different generations, then being inclusive in the design of a holistic financial plan to build trust.
  • Leadership - Leading discussions, interacting with others and managing change around death, tax and inheritance requires empathy and strong leadership.

Some of the scenarios that will be covered:

  • Saving your clients IHT - NOW
  • Nil Rate and Residence Nil Rate Bands to ensure IHT efficiency and access against a backdrop of rising house prices
  • Estate planning for clients who have a power of attorney in place and positioning risk
