When & Where
Fashion Cultures returns to the Merchant City Festival with an exciting programme dedicated to the tools of adornment: perfume, hair and make-up.
The programme will recognise that fashion isn’t just an object or a retail experience but is a rich economy and culture that impacts upon all sectors of society. It will be a celebration of the role that perfume, hair and make-up play within the culture of Glasgow, the pleasure that people take in dressing up and going out, as well as the politics of adornment and enhancement.
The festival programme will move beyond a straightforward series of retail events to include workshops, film screenings, talks, exhibitions and performances all with the aim of providing an embodied approach to engagement with the programme that will appeal to a wide range of audiences.
