PAPERS:-

Guus Ketelings, Lighting Design Technician, CU Phosco Lighting

Airport Lighting

This presentation aims to provide YLP members with a better understanding as to how apron lighting is designed. Topics such as relevant standards, reflectance, glare, best practise and many more will be discussed. Furthermore, some case studies will be shown at the end of the presentation to analyse how the aforementioned topics have been or have not been applied on certain airports.

Ellie Sinkinson, Graduate Engineer, Intelligent Mobility, Arup

Lake Lothing Bascule Bridge and Navigational Lighting on waterways.

The presentation will cover the marine navigation lighting design on Lake Lothing Third Crossing (LLTC) in Suffolk. The crossing will be a bascule bridge over Lake Lothing, which will lift to enable tall vessels to pass through. Navigation lights will be required to mark safe passage, the navigable channel, and any obstructions.

Erin Ruddy, Civil Engineer Apprentice, Smart Mobility & ITS, Arup

Level 3 Apprentice/End Point Assessment Process for EngTech

My evening presentation is based on my EngTech (with the CIHT) and the process in which I went through to create my project. Within my presentation I also touch on health and safety in relation to designers’ responsibilities. The presentation subject relates to scoping reports, travel plans and transport assessments.

Matthew Pears, Senior Lighting Technician, Cumbria County Council

The Importance of Inventory Management

This presentation will cover the importance of an accurate inventory and the role it takes for carrying out a lighting project, like Cumbria County Councils LED Replacement Programme, as well as covering the main function of an inventory system.
