Module C

The final week of the Exterior Lighting Diploma teaches you about specialist architectural, amenity and public realm lighting design, reports and strategies. It includes a site visit, practical session in floodlighting trials and team project.

  • Decorative and amenity lighting

  • Planning and conservation
  • Developing lighting strategies for public realm
  • Environmental lighting impact assessments, including ILP Professional Lighting Guide 04
  • Understanding daylighting
  • Developing a lighting policy/ specification
  • Maintenance by design
  • Night trial planning and set up
  • Controlling light distribution
  • Floodlighting - practical trials
  • Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 and the role of the lighting designer
  • Lighting design risk assessments

This module can be taken as a single course for Lighting Designers.  You will achieve the Public Realm Lighting Certificate if you complete this module alone.
