Event description

Description

Since the beginning of time nature is the basis to so many designs, patterns and art forms. Across cultures we are repeatedly reminded of the simplicity of design origins.

Together we will consider some plant forms that will begin a process resulting in a piece of textile art. You may choose to direct this into one finished piece of work or consider your ideas as motifs for further exploration. Shape and form will be the key art principles but our main attention will be to consider the use of colour and its impact on the design processes.

If you love exploring in a creative, contemporary manner, then do join us for this exciting one day workshop. The day will focus on textured effects on fabrics and hand stitch techniques.

A detailed list of materials will be provided.

Melinda has been involved in studying and working with textiles for over thirty years. Originally from Australia, Melinda now divides her time between the UK and Israel.

Melinda is a founder member of E.A.S.T. and the ’93 Chelmsford Textile group as well as a member of several other textile based organisations. She regularly lectures and provides study days for specialist groups all over the country.

In using the wide medium of fabric and thread, Melinda endeavours to achieve a vibrant and exciting quality to her creative work. There are often multi- layered effects including surface embellishment, woven surfaces and painted fabrics. A combination of unusual materials is regularly explored. Her interest and love of colour remains central to any idea she pursues.
