Description
We are pleased to invite you to the final event in our series on Imagining the Future of Food in Cities hosted by the Young Urbanists. The event will take place just one day before the World Food Day 2014, declared by the UN to heighten public awareness of world food problems and to strengthen solidarity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty. The series explores various issues surrounding food and cities from three different perspectives: production, access and consumption.
Our series comes to a conclusion with The Consumer City on Wednesday 15 October, kindly hosted by BDP in Clerkenwell. This event will explore and open up debates concerning the opportunities and challenges of food consumption in cities. Our speakers will share their experiences with urban food consumption in short presentations, followed by a Q&A session.
Speakers include:
- Dr CJ Lim – Professor of Architecture and Urbanism, The Bartlett, UCL (keynote speaker)
- Jonathan Pauling – Food Team, Greater London Authority
- Dan Woolley – Gleaning Manager, Feeding the 5000
- Shane Holland – Chair, Slow Food London
- Steve Wilson – The Russet
After the talk, CJ Lim's book "Food City" will be on sale at a discounted price of £25 (normal retail price £32).
Drinks and snacks will be provided.
This event is FREE for Young Urbanist Members. There is a charge of £8 for Non-members.
