Description

Join leading industry figures at one of the most important events in the marine calendar.

The IMarEST Annual Dinner is the Institute’s flagship event which brings together over 500 industry leaders and marine professionals from across the sector.

As a learned society at the forefront of new research, the Institute is at the centre of knowledge creation and exchange around the world. Our members are experts and prominent leaders within the fields of marine engineering, marine science and marine technology. This dinner is a highly anticipated occasion for members and guests to see old friends and colleagues and to make new connections.

Having been an Institute tradition for over a century, this dinner is a hugely prestigious event within the marine community. You will enjoy good food and wine, hear a captivating after-dinner speaker and more importantly, you will have the opportunity to socialise with some of the most fascinating people in the industry.

Your host for the evening will be in the President of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.

Principal Guest & Speaker: REAR ADMIRAL TERRY LOUGHRAN CB FRAeS

Terry Loughran served as a helicopter pilot in the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy including flying in the ‘Old’ Ark Royal Aircraft Carrier. He commanded a variety of ships including the later HMS Ark Royal (with women at sea) where he was affectionately known as Big Tel!

He and his wife Philippa sail their Moody 42 from Plymouth while Terry is also a Skipper (now Emeritus) with the Rona Trust Charity broadening the horizons of disadvantaged young people (and his own in the process!) He is an Honorary Life Vice President of the Fly Navy Heritage Trust maintaining the Royal Navy’s Historic Flight and was Chairman of Trustees for both the Trust and the Fleet Air Arm Museum at RNAS Yeovilton for the past decade. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and has been closely involved with the Alliance designing the new large carriers, the Queen Elizabeth class.
