Michelle has extensive experience of the third sector in Scotland gained over more than 15 years. Before joining Big Issue Invest Scotland in 2015, she was leading the charity Disability Information Scotland. For the seven years preceding that role she was Senior Project Manager at Pilotlight in Scotland. Prior to that she held roles working both at grassroots community level and across a number of social inclusion projects. She has held several board positions over the years and recently joined the board of the Smart Play Network.
Big Issue Invest Scotland invest in organisations that have a clear social mission and a business model that delivers social impact, a part of Big Issue Invest’s DNA. The Big Issue exists to provide homeless people with a means of earning a legitimate income. Big Issue Invest exists to help prevent the problems that lead to people becoming homeless in the first place – typically those related to poverty and disadvantage.
Nearly £30 million has been invested in 330 social enterprises and charities. Over 50% of these organisations work in the 25% most deprived areas of the UK. Together, these organisations have directly benefited over 1.8 million people and created over 3,200 jobs.
Sahib is an Investment Associate at LeapFrog Investments where he works on investments in Asia. Prior to joining LeapFrog, Sahib worked at Aon Hewitt where he advised institutional investors on their investment strategies.
