Event description
IMPACT training in smoking and mental health for Third sector, NHS, Local Authorities. Now on Zoom. 1 and 2 hour sessions available.

About this event

FREE training sessions on the adverse effects of smoking on mental health and mental health medication for Third Sector Support Workers (including Volunteers, Peer Mentors and Carers), NHS and Local Authority workers, providing support to people who have mental health problems. First a one hour e-learning module followed-up with a one or two hour session delivered through Zoom two weeks later.

One hour sessions

Two hour sessions

  • 19th May 2021
  • 16th June 2021
  • 22nd September 2021
  • 20th October 2021
  • 17th November 2021
  • 8th December 2021

The IMPACT Guidance has already been distributed to many organizations and can also be downloaded from www.impact.scot

The one hour session covers:

  • effect of smoking on mental health medication
  • facilitating discussions about smoking and mental health
  • e-cigarettes
  • local services to help people stop smoking

The two hour session also covers:

  • IMPACT guidance document
  • Ask, Inform, Discuss (AID) brief advice framework
  • How AID supports workplace priorities

A welcome email will be sent to you 2 weeks in advance of the course. Also there will be a link to the e-learning module. Please complete this prior to attending the online session.

These sessions will be delivered via Zoom. Please check that you are able to access training through this particular software.

Please note. Although IMPACT training is free, ASH Scotland reserve the right to charge a £30 administration fee per participant if registration is cancelled less than 48 hours before the training session starts.

The aim of the IMPACT project is to raise awareness of the links between smoking and poor mental health and to encourage mental health practitioners to discuss these links
