Impact Health: How to write a research paper
Welcome to our online event where we will dive into the world of writing research papers !
This course is ideal for surgical trainees, early-career researchers, clinicians looking to publish, or anyone struggling to get their work into high-impact journals. No prior experience is necessary although a good command of spoken and written English is necessary. By the end, you'll know how to:
- Frame a research question that matters
- Structure your paper for clarity and punch
- Craft each section to support your core message
- Avoid the common traps that sink submissions
- Edit like a reviewer (and think like an editor)
Course Format
This is a live, bespoke course delivered solely by Professor Aneel Bhangu: no breakouts - fully interactive - 30 page course booklet - Certificate with 6 Impact Health CPD points.
Participants
Limited to 10 to ensure interaction and detailed feedback. The course is interactive and 'cameras on' is the way to interact. Please note that at this stage, we cannot issue any refunds (irrespective of reason) but will try to defer you to a future course. The course will assume you have completed data collection and analysis on a project, and are ready to write the paper.

Frequently asked questions
Surgical trainees, attending surgeons, medical students, doctors, and anyone who wants to convert their project into a well written paper. You should have a good command of spoken English.
Yes, to make it globally accessible. It will run to UK time and start at 09:00. Ideally, you'll have your camera on for most of the course for full interaction, but there'll be lots of breaks to stretch!
No problem. It's for beginners and people who have written before - it's the same skillset.
At present, we can't deal with cancellations. We'll try and move you to a future course, but in general only book and pay if you can make it as otherwise you'll loose your money.
It's live by Professor Aneel Bhangu. We won't do breakouts, we'll stick together and learn from each other. It'll be very low pressure and no-one will be embarrassed.
No! It's a relaxing course, there's no test, and there's no pass/fail.
