Impact on Cultural Life: The Historian's Perspective
Wed 10 May 2017, 12:00 – 13:30 BST
Invited Speaker: Professor Hanna Diamond, School of Modern Languages (MLANG), Cardiff University
Hanna Diamond’s research has enhanced public understanding of the lives of French civilians during the Second World War. Her ongoing work with cultural professionals, including radio and television producers, museum curators, non-academic editors and publishers, has enhanced economic prosperity in the creative sector. She has been able to integrate new ways of thinking about the period into public discourse and to extend her reach to global audiences. She has used the internet to communicate her research and her interactive website (http://www.fleeinghitler.org/) has enabled numerous individuals to gain public recognition for their testimonies. Hanna continues to leverage digital media to attract opportunities for research impact to develop. Current impact-related activities focus on developments in the French museum sector and the use of testimony in the museum context.
Following a 30 minute talk, Hanna Diamond will be answering questions from the audience during a moderated Q&A session.
You are warmly invited to stay for networking from 13.00-13.30. Unfortunately lunch cannot be guaranteed on this occasion.
