Description

Dina Aherne brings to Leicester Dr Sailesh Rao & Sandra Higgins to discuss veganism today & its impact on positive global shifts.

Dr. Sailesh Rao is the Founder and Executive Director of Climate Healers, a non-profit dedicated towards healing the Earth’s climate. A systems specialist with a Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA, conferred in 1986, Dr. Rao worked on the Internet communications infrastructure for twenty years after graduation. In 2006, he switched careers and became deeply immersed, full-time, in the spiritual and environmental crises affecting humanity. He is the author of the 2011 book, Carbon Dharma: The Occupation of Butterflies and the 2016 book, Carbon Yoga: The Vegan Metamorphosis. He is the Co-Executive Producer of the trilogy of documentaries, The Human Experiment (2013), Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret (2014) and What The Health (2017), which explore the systemic causes of human and environmental ill health and of the forthcoming documentary, The Compassion Project.

Title: Inspiring the Great Transition

Synopsis: The Great Transition is the metamorphosis of the global industrial civilization from its current domination/control relating "Caterpillar" phase to the partnership/respect relating "Butterfly" phase. In this talk, Dr. Rao shows how we can reframe commonly held stories and presents compelling factual reasons why Veganism is foundational for the Butterfly phase and why the Great Transition is bound to occur within the next 9 years, by 2026.

Sandra Higgins:

Sandra Higgins, is a psychologist who founded Eden Farmed Animal Sanctuary in 2008, the first vegan sanctuary in Ireland. Eden is now home to more than 100 residents, all of whom have been rescued from human use.

In 2015 she founded Go Vegan Ireland, a public educational advertising campaign which quickly developed into the international campaign Go Vegan World. She will tell us what impact the campaign has had on the vegan movement particularly in light of the recent positive Advertising Standards Agency decision.
