Imperial Introduction to Intensive Care Course

Description
This course is aimed at trainees new to Intensive Care Medicine, whether their background is ACCS, Medicine, Anaesthetics or Surgery. It is designed in three sessions, which can be attended during a typical 6-month Intensive Care placement. It is hoped that this format will allow trainees to improve their knowledge and skills in parallel with their clinical experience. The course can be completed in any order and the dates can be booked individually.

Part 2 (Cardiovascular/Neuro/Sepsis/Ethics) - 20th April 2018
Part 3 (Simulation of Intensive Care Emergencies) - 18th June 2018

Cost
Part 1 costs £80
Part 2 costs £80
Part 3 costs £100 (internal candidates within Imperial School of Anaesthesia), £120 (external candidates)
Aim
To allow trainees who are new to Intensive Care Medicine to enhance their knowledge, practical skills and ability to manage emergency situations.
Structure
Part 1 (Respiratory/Gastrointestinal/Renal) and Part 2 (Cardiovascular/Neuro/Sepsis/Ethics) consist of a mixture of lectures and lots of practical workshops.
Part 3 (Simulation of Intensive Care Emergencies) is a simulation day that gives participants the opportunity to manage emergencies.

Do I have to attend the three parts in order?
No, you can complete the course in any order
If I cannot attend one part, when will the course run again?
The entire 3-part course will run twice per year
What if I have none or very little Intensive Care experience so far?
It is suggested that participants attend the course with 6 months or less experience in ICU. More senior participants are welcome to attend and have previously benefitted from the course, but it is aimed at those with 6 months or less experience.
