Impermanence with Geshe Graham Woodhouse

Saturday 28th October at 10:30am to 4:00pm

Liverpool Central Library, William Brown Street

(a short few minutes walk from Liverpool Lime Street railway station)

Tuning into impermanence, the passing away of things, will provide us with useful ways of understanding that will help us with our everyday bothersome emotions such as anger, jealousy and attachment.  It will help us to develop healthy attitudes to life, to our relationships with our friends and loved ones, and it will encourage us to extend kindness to those we consider strangers or enemies.

The Buddhas, the enlightened ones, are also very keen to show us how to extract ourselves from all forms of stress and suffering altogether. A strong sense of impermanence is a great help on this path. Being on this inspiring path brings a sense of balance, happiness, freedom and kindness into our everyday lives and interactions with others.

We will meditate on different types of impermanence, subtle and gross, compare what Buddha taught with the scientific perspective and our own experience, use some reasoning and enjoy ourselves while we engage with Buddha's insight into life's problems and his solutions, simple or profound. Geshe Graham will offer some verses composed by himself on the subject.

Geshe Graham Woodhouse has extensive knowledge of the Tibetan tradition of philosophical enquiry and practice, gained through sixteen years of study at the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics in Dharamsala, India.  Geshe Graham has extensive knowledge of the Buddhist texts, is highly skilled in translating and has an ability to convey the teachings in a practical and contemporary way.
