Event description
What is the state of implementation of blockchain by public sector bodies around the world? Debate the latest GovChain research rankings.

About this Event

What is the current state of implementation of blockchain by governments and public sector bodies around the world? And what are the factors holding back further progress? This event brings together the GovChain research team with blockchain innovators in the Isle of Man to discuss the report's findings and ask how can we use these findings to accelerate change.

The GovChain research team has mapped the regulatory and policy environments of 20 countries around the world (spread across Europe, USA, Asia, Australia, Africa, the Caribbean and South America) to assess their degree of friendliness towards blockchain – and cryptocurrencies more broadly. We also interviewed policymakers and intrapreneurs within public sector organisations who have attempted to implement blockchain directly. What were the key drivers that allowed them to make a change – was it funding, political leadership, policy environment, cultural factors or something else? What could other countries learn from successful approaches to help them accelerate change?

The event will begin with networking drinks. We will then open with a presentation of the GovChain research findings and responses followed by a panel discussion around how best to accelerate knowledge sharing among policymakers and enhance implementation of public sector blockchain projects on the island as well as around the world.
