Event description

Description

Places will be offered on a first come basis and may be limited to one per organisation.

The Community Empowerment Act is now in place with the Community Asset Transfer (CAT) Guidance launched in January. This information event will give you an update on the CAT process and how it is being implemented in Dundee. It is recognised that the opportunity that CAT can provide is to transform neglected buildings and land into thriving hubs of culture, business and innovation by third sector organisations.

At this event meeting, we will discuss how to seize upon this opportunity. We will explore previous projects, challenges within the sector and examine how the changes in legislation will impact on the asset transfer process in Dundee. Speakers are:

* Nicky Donald Community Ownership Support Service on Asset Transfer and on the Rights to Buy Roadmap

* Neil Ellis, Centre Manager Boomerang Community Centre; The Story So Far

* Susan Smith Chief Executive Dundee Social Enterprise Network support available

* Carole Jenkins, Dundee City Council on Strategy & Policy, Legislation and Process
