Event description

Description

course description

This course is aimed at those VCSE organizations who work with the NHS (or would like to) and outlines the opportunities presenting themselves in the newly published NHS Long Term Plan (LTP), the 10 year plan for the direction of travel for the NHS and its partner organizations.

The NHS is changing, especially at GP and community level and having a greater clarity on how VCSE’s fit into the emerging picture will allow you to know how to get involved and support local people within this new world.

We will go through a brief introduction to the NHS (and its multiple acronyms!) before going into more detail two new emerging models described in the LTP: Integrated Care Systems and Primary Care Networks and how the VCSE sector fit into those new organizational groups. We will then focus on what the LTP says on opportunities for expanding social prescribing, self-management and prevention schemes, technology and innovation and some more disparate areas which will be worth watching.

It will be an interactive session and all questions will be welcome (although, as with the nature of emerging plans, there may not be answers to everything!).

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • By the end of the workshop delegates will have an understanding of the NHS Long term plan and how this will impact on VCSE groups, in particular in relation to:

  • How new models within the NHS, such as how GPs are changing, will affect them
  • Social prescribing and new opportunities
  • Supporting self-management and prevention programmes
  • Personal health budget opportunities
  • Future opportunities, including around mental health support, digital and innovations
