Impressionism in Photography
Join professional photographer Cheryl Hamer for a one-day workshop and learn how to take your photography to the next level by getting more creative with your camera. Move on from ‘straight’ photography and learn a range of techniques that will enable you to create more impressionistic work – in camera not in Photoshop/Lightroom!
We will explore a range of skills as follows;
Intentional Camera Movement
Soft Focus Techniques
In camera Multiple Exposure (check if your camera can do this; if not, don’t worry, you will still get a lot from this workshop simply by using the other techniques above and you can have a practice by borrowing one of Cheryl’s cameras.)
In this way you will be able to become more creative and develop your photography as an art form, releasing you from the normal constraints that we have learned to regard as ‘sacrosanct’ within photography and becoming freer in your composition.
Here’s what Mike said after a recent similar workshop; "I would just like to say thank you for the past few days. I not only enjoyed the course but, with your guidance I've gone beyond the technical side to the inspirational side of photography."
The course will be structured as follows;
9.30 – 13.00 – Photography time (we will go location shooting locally)
13.00 – 14.00 – Buffet lunch (included in price)
14.00 – 15.30 – Time to post process your images under Cheryl’s expert guidance
15.30 – 17.00 – Time to get your chosen photo printed and mounted (included in price)
To get the most from this workshop you should already know the basics of photography – depth of field, aperture selection, focusing, control of exposure etc. It would also be preferable if you already know how to use both graduated and ‘solid’ neutral density filters such as the Formatt Hitech 10 or 16 stop. However, if you’re a relative beginner with these filters, if you pop into Cambrian Photography before the workshop, we will show you how to use them so that you can then attend with more confidence.
Once you have learned these new skills, your creativity with your camera will be vast – limited only by your imagination. Time to move on; Time to GET CREATIVE
