House and Jackson are pleased to announce that Imprint Equine Foot Care will be joining us on the 25th May to launch our Farrier CPD programme. Called ' Farriery for the Laminitic Journey' the evening is aimed at supporting the important work farriers and vets undertake to improve the welfare of laminitic horses and ponies.

The event will be supported by Redwings Horse Sanctuary and Jenny Lynden of the University of Surrey.

Event Itinary:

Arrival and Coffee - 6.00 p.m

Session 1 - 6.30p.m to 7.00 p.m - “Understanding Laminitis - An introduction to Laminitis for Understanding , Prevention and Care”

An Introduction to Laminitis from Sub Clinical to Acute Onset including aetiology, the Laminitis, PPID, EMS Triangle, clinical signs for early identification and understanding of X-Rays. 30 minutes - House and Jackson

Session 2 - 7.00 p.m to 7.30 p.m - “Farriery for the Laminitic Journey - Opportunities for Soundness and Welfare ’

An Introduction to Laminitis and the opportunities Farriery can offer for soundness and welfare throughout the key stages of the laminitis journey including Acute Onset Pre First X- Ray, Acute Onset Post First X- Ray, Secondary Crisis - Hoof Wall Avulsion, Whole Life Effecting Chronic Laminitis. 30 Minutes - Imprint Equine Hoof Care

Dinner 7.30 p.m to 8.00 p.m - 30 minutes

Divide into Two Groups

Session 3a - 8.00 p.m to 9.00 p.m 2 x 30 Minute Sessions - “ Imprint First Shoe Demonstration” - Imprint Equine Foot Care

Session 3b - 8.00 p.m to 9.00 p.m 2 x 30 Minute Sessions - "Making every contact count - farriers supporting horse owners' understanding of laminitis" - Jenny Lynden, University of Surrey

Session 4 - 9.00 p.m to 9.30 pm - Redwings Horse Sanctuary 'Building Welfare Partnerships' - Farrier CPD Project Essex 2017 - Redwings Horse Sanctuary supported by the BFBA

An introduction to the Redwings Horse Sanctuary 'Building Welfare Partnerships - Farrier CPD Project Essex 2017. Exploring opportunities to support equine welfare and farrier wellbeing through owner understanding. Including an invitation to interested parties to join this innovative research project.
