This is a fun & playful beginners improv comedy course featuring expressive games & scene work all delivered in a supported environment. We will look at the tools that can help make you a skilled improviser and allow you to explore the depths of your humanity with the natural and spontanious humour we all have. We will finish the course with a show that hopefully all participants will take part in (not obligatory).
The theatrical art form of Improvisational Comedy that is central to these sessions is where improvisers perform without a script. Many improvised comedy performances begin with a simple premise. The actors then riff on the suggestion, listening closely to one another and allowing scenes to spontaneously develop in real-time.
Does that sound daunting? Don't worry, you will see that by following a few guidelines everything flows easier than you could imagine.
Across the course we will be working with specific set goals and topics allowing for a greater depth of understanding and a defined skill set.
The acceptance model of 'Improv' helps to demonstrate a way to “just be yourself” and gives the creative space to help boost self confidence, spontaneity, imagination, mental flexibility, positivity & much more!
Absolutely no experience needed! Come & join us!
