We will look at fun techniques for exploring free improvisation in groups - focussing on the question of what to play and why. We will also look at techniques for learning to improvise with rhythm, triads and scales using ideas of form and developing phrase building skills and strategies.
Please bring an instrument!
1.00PM-2.00PM - FREE TIME/NETWORKING/LUNCH (BRING YOUR OWN)
2.00PM-4.00PM INTERPLAY WITH MAIRI CAMPBELL
Mairi will be introducing the group to a method of group improv called InterPlay. In essence, InterPlay is a philosophy and practice that builds self-confidence and a sense of well-being through the expressive arts. Each class can progress in a number of ways, but, generally, a class begins with a warm-up and then moves into a series of "forms" which are simple structures, easy and incremental activities, involving interactions with another or others. Emphasis is based on what feeds, nourishes and engages you.. in an environment of acceptance, not
The Brunton, Ladywell Way, Musselburgh EH21 6AA. The training will be held in the rehearsal room on the 1st floor.
