Workshop aim

This workshop will show you how to write effective news releases that communicate your organisation's messages and help to build their reputation.

Suitable for new writers or experienced professionals looking to produce sharper news releases that get printed.

Workshop objectives

Participation in the workshop will provide you with the knowledge to:

• identify stories and write news releases of genuine interest to journalists

• understand what makes a story

• develop a journalistic writing style that's easy to read

• write successful headlines and intros

• use strong quotes to add value to your message

• create stories when there's nothing new to say.


About the Trainer:

Judi Goodwin is a freelance journalist and trainer with wide experience in both print and broadcast media. She specialises in helping professionals in PR and corporate communications to develop a journalistic writing style. Judi began her training career with the University of Manchester and has run in-house courses for The Children's Food Trust, Lloyds TSB, The Scottish Environment Protection Agency, The Royal Mint, the NUJ and IPC Magazines. She is an NLP Practitioner and brings a whole-person approach to her training, with an emphasis on coaching and creativity.
