Improve Your Memory: improve-your-memory.eventbrite.co.uk
Wednesday, 21 May 2014 from 18:00 to 21:00 (BST)
Do you feel you’d like to be able to present without notes, yet don’t feel confident enough to do so? Then this workshop is for you.
In this intensive workshop, we’ll be concentrating on techniques that have been used continuously for thousands of years – by people from the Greek orators to modern memory masters. They’ve stood the test of time because they’ve been proven to work time and time again. These techniques have helped people place information in their memory and recall it reliably. To be good at this takes practice – but you’ve got to know what to practise in the first place.
What we’ll be covering are techniques that make it easy to remember a simple presentation structure, so you can improvise around it, and techniques that make it easy to remember precise words or phrases you want to use at key points where getting it right really matters. This will leave you free to concentrate on building a relationship with your audience so you can make sure they get the points you want them to remember.
You’ll learn how to build and use a flexible, adaptable memory palace through fun exercises that you can take away and practise, so you can develop gradually and securely, building your confidence as you do so.
Giles Abbott and Leon Conrad, of The Academy of Oratory, are professional storytellers, writers, voice teachers, rhetoricians who have been using and teaching these techniques for over 20 years. This is your chance to learn these techniques yourself.
This work works! Don’t lose your chance to win!

About The Academy of Oratory
We help people communicate at their best in any situation.
We help novices increase their confidence.
We help experienced presenters develop their skills further.
We help aspiring leaders to be authoritative, motivational, influential speakers.
Our approach is based on ethical values.
We do what we do not because it is our job, but because we feel it is our vocation.
We believe that effective, ethically based communication is the key to unlocking human potential - individually, in families, in teams and can transform hierarchical organisations for the better, enabling them to be more productive, act more responsibly while creating value for staff and shareholders alike.
At the level at which we work, we see increased empathy, decreased fragmentation, increased engagement.
At The Academy of Oratory, we achieve this by using tried, tested and very practical techniques. Our approach combines the best of classical rhetoric, the power of traditional storytelling and the best of what modern life offers in terms of advances in research and best practice in training.
We get people in touch with their natural voice quality, a quality that is typically rich, resonant, capable of a wide and varied range of expression and a pleasure to listen to.
We help people use words powerfully, and show them how to bring their ideas to life in the minds of their listeners.
We encourage people to bring about positive action through the act of communicating.
We do this - and do it well.
